Wayne Preparatory Academy: Enroll Now!

Wayne Preparatory Academy offers a unique learning experience for K-8 children designed to develop great learners and exceptional leaders. We educate our scholars to excel in our 21st century world. Our approach has three cornerstones: surround our scholars with great educators, provide Direct Instruction and the Leader in Me programs.

We believe in the effectiveness of our approach, and it’s been recognized by the State of North Carolina. We were the only school to receive an Exceeded Academic Growth Award for our scholars’ growth over the past five years.

Direct Instruction programs

Direct Instruction delivers a learning experience proven to transform all students into confident learners, including at-risk, ESL, special education, and at-level students. Reading, language arts, and math are the building blocks of knowledge at Wayne Preparatory Academy; and with Direct Instruction programs, every scholar will master them.

Direct Instruction’s purposeful instructional planning provides extensive support as students practice and apply what they have learned. The result: consistently high levels of student achievement when Direct Instruction programs are used for early intervention, Response to Intervention (RtI), and core instruction.

The Leader in Me program

The Leader in Me program teaches 21st century leadership and life skills to students and creates a culture of student empowerment based on the idea that every scholar can be a leader.

Based on Franklin Covey’s work in school and student transformation, the Leader in Me program helps students learn how to become self-reliant, take initiative, plan ahead, set and track goals, do their homework, prioritize their time, manage their emotions, be considerate of others, express their viewpoint persuasively, resolve conflicts, find creative solutions, value differences, and live a balanced life.

We welcome families in Goldsboro and beyond! Consider Wayne Preparatory Academy as your leadership school of choice for students in Wayne, Greene and Lenoir counties.

What is a charter school?

Charter schools are tuition-free public schools of choice, and each charter school is governed  independently by a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Charter schools are typically funded at 80% of what  traditional public schools receive. Many charter schools function very efficiently on a “less is more” philosophy. Charter schools typically focus on their own mix of proven academic strategies that best reach their student base.

Charter schools also have their own mix of academic philosophies for how to best serve their students via academic remediation, high intellect, Socratic, Basic School, college preparation and STEM approaches (all of these are academic approaches within existing North Carolina charter schools).

Charter schools are public, tuition-free schools that are open to all students. Often operated independently from the traditional school district, charter schools provide high-quality instruction from teachers who have the autonomy to design a classroom that fits their students’ needs. They are led by dynamic principals who have the flexibility to create a school culture that fosters student performance and parent satisfaction.
